When it opens in 2013, the new Omni hotel will have 24 floors, 800 rooms and 80,000 square fee of meeting space. Jones Bros. excavated 150,000 cubic yards of rock, including careful blasting and excavation of individual elevator and underground storm pits, all done in a downtown environment.
Water from the site was managed by pumping from a central low area specifically created for drainage. Excavation was completed in 90 calendar days.
Scheduled to be completed in 2013, Music City Center will include 1.2 million square feet of exhibit, ballroom and meeting room space. Jones Bros. was given 120 days for mass excavation — which removed 250,000 cubic yards of rock — and the digging of 1,000 individual foundations.
The project, which also included drainage and utility work, was completed on time and on budget despite historic flooding in May 2010 that submerged portions of the site.
Few companies have the know-how and quality focus to build a test track with Nissan’s demanding tolerances. Jones Bros. was selected by Nissan USA, an expert in building test tracks, partly because of our experience building the track at Nashville Speedway.
Nissan USA has contracted with us for a second test track which involves grading, drainage and paving.
Nashville International Airport serves 9 million annual passengers with roughly 400 flights per day. Jones Bros. was selected for taxiway reconstruction, requiring deep, steel-reinforced concrete to accommodate heavy aircraft.
The project was particularly challenging given the tight tolerances and high-security environment.
This bridge project spanned the Little Harpeth River, listed as an impaired water body under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act. This required Jones Bros. to take additional steps to protect water quality and the surrounding environment.
Work included grading, bridge construction, drainage
and paving, nearly all of which was completed as the bridge was open to traffic.
The scope of this 43-month project speaks for itself. It not only involved grading, drainage and paving 4.1 miles of roadway and connections, but also the construction of
four bridges. Despite this complexity, we completed the job on time and on budget.
